Looking for an experienced full-time Safety Coordinator (Transportation-Tanker Trucks) in Corpus Christi, TX. This position requires, at a minimum:
- Prefer a Bachelor of Science degree. Must have 3 years experience in safety role; any further education/training associated with environmental and safety course work, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3 years experience in hazmat truck transportation or crude oil operations a must
- knowledge of FMCSR and HMR
- knowledge of OSHA 1910 and 1926 standards
- ability to conduct training in DOT and OSHA topics
- incident investigations
- facility inspections and audits
Duties include travel (50% of the time) with work-related travel expenses paid. Company vehicle provided. Position Description:
This position will provide on-site support to the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Gulf of Mexico Disaster Response Center (DRC) in Mobile, AL. The DRC is an operational and scientific coordination hub for addressing coastal environmental hazards, both natural and man-made, with NOAA constituents in the emergency management community, as well as with community planning personnel, at the local/state/regional level.
Position Duties:
ACTIVITY 1: RISK COMMUNICATIONS PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION
- Coordinate DRC risk communications planning activities and maintaining a “Gulf of Mexico Risk Communication Plan” that identifies identifying communications objectives and strategies, audiences, tactics and best practices and evaluation processes.
- Establish and maintain mutual communications between the DRC. and industry, universities, other government agencies and the general public; promotes communications with target audiences to encourage understanding and support of agency.
- Develop messages, talking points, and presentations to be used in disaster preparedness, response and recovery operations.
- Provide technical assistance to DRC personnel and partners with regard to messaging. • Support and assist in moderating communications meetings. • Write minutes, disseminate information, and maintain member records.
ACTIVITY 2: TRAINING ACTIVITIES AND OUTREACH
- Arrange, coordinate, and conduct workshops, seminars, and meetings with
various organizations to promote information exchange and technology transfer with regard to relevant science issues, environmental disaster preparedness, response, and recovery activities. - Coordinate the facilities training schedule to include promoting and coordinating the use of the DRC for workshops, seminars and meetings that are related to environmental disaster preparedness, response and recovery activities.
- Assist in developing training curriculum and workshop agendas for activities sponsored by the DRC.
- Coordinate the planning and implementation of interaction with key officials in the public and private sectors through special functions, commemorative events, and other activities.
- Provide communications expertise, advise and assist DRC personnel and partners in carrying out community relations activities.
ACTIVITY 3: WRITING AND EDITING SUPPORT
- Provide writing and editing support for Web, multimedia, and print products. Conceptualize and develop content.
- Participate in all aspects of content development, including defining the intended audience, identifying the most effective method of presenting information to accomplish the project’s objective, and managing the content review and approval process.
- Coordinate content development with subject matter experts from across NOAA. Negotiate editorial changes with authors to ensure content is accurate and audience-appropriate. Re-write and edit material for clarity and adherence to applicable style conventions. Coordinate acquisition of media such as images and video with program staff.
- Support development of internal weekly NOS- and NOAA-level reports.
- Support development of annual reports such as an Annual Accomplishments Report.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in English, Communications, Physical Science, or Natural Science field. Must have good communication skills.
- Minimum of two years writing or communications experience on natural resource, marine and ocean science/policy topics, demonstrated with previous work examples. Preference will be given for experience with risk communication and/or environmental emergency response.
- Knowledge and experience in technical writing and copy editing including standard styles such as AP or MLA.
- Experience developing messages for various professional audiences on science/policy topics, ocean science or environmental response topics preferred.
- W orking knowledge of office computer applications, including Microsoft W ord, Excel and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of procedures for resolving routine problems associated with the use of these applications. Knowledge of Constant Contact beneficial.

Two Positions: Environmental Engineers
Location; Houston, TX
Responsibilities Include:
- Monitor, maintain & implement environmental mgmt programs to ensure compliance in accordance with all local, regional, state, & federal regulations.
- Respond to business segments for environmental support on projects from initial project assessment to final permit preparation, submission & approval.
- Provide project management and implementation guidance for HSE issues.
- Assist in developing strategies and implementation plans for emerging environmental issues.
- Provide guidance, regulatory interpretation, and assistance with procedure development for a variety of environmental issues.
- Complete all routine regulatory and permit driven compliance reporting for assets.
- Develop and continually expand regulatory and technical expertise.
- Define training objectives and develop or coordinate environmental training course content, format, and presentation methods.
- Advise, assist with and complete environmental reporting requirements for local, regional, state, federal and corporate entities.
- Participate in HSE auditing efforts, conduct SPCC monthly inspections, as well as conduct environmental audits.
- Manage accumulation and disposal of universal, hazard and non-hazard waste streams.
- Ensure compliance and adherence to required environmental reporting deadlines.
- Conduct awareness training associated with the environmental function.
- This is a hands-on role, responsible for providing leadership and technical guidance throughout the company.
- Instill & foster a proactive EHS-conscious culture & drive operational ownership of the EHS programs through all levels of the organization.
- Manage all environmental related matters associated with site operations including air, water, waste and chemical/materials management issues.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or Science
- At least 5 years of progressive environmental experience in the following:
- Multimedia experience in all facets of water compliance, SPCC plans, FRP’s, site planning, etc.
- Major federal environmental laws such as RCRA, CAA, CWA, Endangered Species Act, and their respective implementing regulations
- Air permitting from small source to major source. (Desired but not required) o
- Extensive experience in all storm water areas, including writing & implementing storm water plans & permits. This includes general source permits and sites that just require a plan, and best management practices to be implemented.
- Need to have SPCC regulation and plan requirement expertise. Should be able to write a plan to meet the regulatory requirements, put the plan in place, train the facilitypersonnel, and interact with EPA and the Coast Guard during inspections to assure co’s compliance with all areas.
- Underground storage tank regulations and permitting processes o
- Hydrocarbon storage caverns, design requirements and associated permitting (Desired but not required)
- New Source Performance Standards (NSPS), and MACT Standards
- State air, water & waste related permitting processes, regulations, and other local / regional environmental regulations impacting the oil and gas transportation industry.
- Environmental training program development
- HSE compliance auditing, due diligence surrounding property acquisition and divestiture
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations
- Clean driving record and ability to travel up to 50%.
- Submit to a drug and thorough background check
- Project management experience is a plus.
Additional Qualifications:
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends and initiate actions
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Moderate to extensive knowledge of project management and problem solving – ability to manage multiple projects
- Moderate to extensive knowledge of raw materials, processes and products
- Ability to work independently and as part of a group
- Ability to interface and negotiate with Local, State and Federal Regulatory Agencies on various permit and compliance issues
- Any MARINE TERMINAL COMPLIANCE experience would be strongly desired.
